Let’s Talk School Readiness

With new UAE school entry legislation approaching, we’re opening an important conversation about what readiness really means.

Let’s Talk School Readiness

Hi Everyone ,

Over the past few weeks many of us have been navigating a great deal, both professionally and personally.

The current geopolitical climate across the region has understandably created uncertainty and concern for many families and educators. During moments like these, thoughtful leadership and steady communication become even more important for the communities we serve.

I believe that staying connected, informed, and supportive of one another matters now more than ever.

At the same time, an important development is unfolding within the early years sector here in the UAE .New federal legislation will come into effect from the 2026 academic year, adjusting the school entry cut-off date. This shift will naturally raise questions for parents, educators and school leaders around school readiness, developmental expectations and when children are truly ready to transition into formal schooling.

Which brings us to a conversation that feels both timely and necessary.

Join us this Monday at 10:00 AM for the live Let’s Talk School Readiness webinar, where I will be joined by the wonderful Lou Hurley to explore the topic of school readiness.

In a recent episode of the podcast, Lou shared a perspective that resonated deeply with many educators:

Eligibility does not automatically mean readiness and earlier is not better!

Children may meet the age requirement for school entry, but readiness is far more complex. It includes emotional security, independence, communication, social confidence and the developmental foundations that allow children to truly thrive in a school environment.

In this webinar we will explore:

• What school readiness actually means in early childhood

• How the new UAE school entry legislation may impact families and early years settings

• Why protecting the early childhood phase is so important for long-term success

• How educators and leaders can guide parents through these decisions with clarity and care

Join us for this important conversation.

Lou speaks beautifully about the difference between eligibility and readiness, and why this distinction matters so much for young children.

Despite the challenges unfolding around us globally, our responsibility to young children remains. I hope you’ll join us.
